Multimillion Dollar Redevelopment Announced for North West Private Hospital

The multimillion redevelopment of North West Private Hospital is continuing with approval received for another stage. Ramsay Health Care has provided details of this project which encompasses the construction of two additional Operating Theatres, expanded consulting suites and car parking.

This redevelopment, estimated to cost $12 million, includes the construction of 8 consulting suites and 130 carparks with a second later stage including the addition of 2 theatres creating a total of five theatres as well as expanded day theatre capacity.

Announcing the plans today, North West Private Hospital CEO Jane McGrath, said this would be a significant development for the hospital and would position it well for the future.

“North West Private Hospital has established a strong reputation in north west suburbs of Brisbane for the provision of excellent medical, surgical and maternity services to the community. This particular group of projects is a significant part of a series of service redevelopments which will assist us in meeting the growing demand for our services,” Ms McGrath said.

“I am particularly delighted that Ramsay Health Care has made a decision to upgrade and expand the hospital so soon after taking ownership of the hospital late in 2005 – it shows a commitment to the provision of expanded and contemporary quality private healthcare in this region.”

The redevelopment has already begun with earthworks currently underway and an expected completion of the additional 130 car parks and specialist medical consulting suites by mid 2007.

The additional operating theatres and day theatre capacity are still in detailed planning with construction expected to be completed at the end of 2007.

Further developments in ward accommodation and obstetric services are also in the planning phase.
