New Day Surgery and Cancer Unit to be developed at North West Private Hospital
September 2008
A $10 million dollar development incorporating the construction and expansion of the North West Private Hospital Day Surgery Unit as well as the redevelopment of the cancer care unit for day chemotherapy has been announced by Ramsay Health Care.
Specifically, the project includes the construction and expansion of two gastroenterology’s & day surgery procedure rooms and two dermatology day procedure rooms as well as the expansion of theatre recovery and also includes redevelopment of the oncology day unit.
This further expansion follows the two additional operating theatres, creating a total of five theatres, and the expansion of Special Care Baby Nursery, which were completed through 2008. In addition, expanded consulting suites and car parking were completed in July 2007.
Announcing the plans today, North West Private Hospital CEO Jane McGrath, said this would be another significant development for the hospital.
“North West Private Hospital has established a strong reputation in north west suburbs of Brisbane for the provision of excellent maternity services, medical, and surgical service to the community. This particular group of projects is a significant part of a series of service redevelopments which will assist us in meeting the growing demand for our services,” Ms McGrath said.
“I am particularly delighted that Ramsay Health Care has again made a decision that demonstrates its ongoing commitment to investing back in its hospitals and in particular it belief in the successful future of North West Private Hospital. Ramsay Health Care took ownership of North West Private Hospital in late 2005 and has continually demonstrated to staff, patients and doctors that they are committed to the provision of expanded and contemporary quality private healthcare in this region.”
Since Ramsay Health Care purchased North West Private Hospital they have invested back in construction and expansion of services approximately $24 million dollars.
The day procedure unit theatres, theatre recovery and oncology day procedure unit will commence construction in late October 2008 and is expected to be completed in late 2009.
Further developments in ward accommodation and obstetric services are also in the master planning phase.
