Dr Mark Dekkers provides comprehensive and individualised care for his patients. He takes the time to thoroughly assess each patient’s condition to develop tailored management plans that include both non-surgical and surgical treatment options. Dr Dekkers has an interest in knee surgery, covering a wide range of procedures, including: • Arthroscopic anterior and posterior cruciate ligament reconstruction for unstable knees.
• Meniscal surgery, including the management of meniscal root tears.
• Articular cartilage repair, including reconstruction for cartilage
injuries in athletes.
• Osteotomy and joint replacement surgery for the treatment of arthritis
in the hip and knee
Dr Dekkers completed specialist training in knee surgery with fellowships in the UK and Europe. He has also undergone a post graduate fellowship in knee surgery, and advanced training in sports knee surgery and cartilage implantation. He has also completed a trauma fellowship in Italy. For total knee replacement, Dr Dekkers utilises Robotic-Assisted Surgery, enabling precise assessment and correction of knee deformities caused by arthritis. This technique supports faster rehabilitation, reduced pain, and improved post-operative recovery for patients. He also operates an Acute Knee Clinic, designed to provide timely care for knee trauma and injuries. His staff are trained to triage and prioritise acute injuries to ensure they are seen in an appropriate timeframe. Dr Dekkers believes it is essential to see acute sporting injuries early, he offers appointments during the week to accommodate issues that may arise. Dr Dekkers incorporates innovative techniques in his practice, including one
hamstring tendon method for anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction instead of the traditional two tendon method. This approach facilitates quicker rehabilitation and an earlier return to normal activities.
