Mission Statement from the Education Department

"To provide a comprehensive and exciting program of competency based staff training and development that meets individual and organisational needs. The Education Department will strive to support the recruitment and retention of new and existing staff and their ongoing employment at North West Private Hospital."

With over 350 staff employed in medical, nursing, allied health, administration and patient support services, staff development is presented with a major challenge to meet the diverse training needs of our staff. We accomplish this task with enthusiasm developing an education program that ensures a workforce that is a leader in clinical expertise and patient care. The education department comprises of an Education & Training Coordinator (Clinical & Non Clinical Staff), 3 Clinical Educators and 6 non clinical managers. With continual interaction with all staff we develop a thorough education program to suit all needs. Your professional development is of the utmost importance to us and we aim to support you in the workplace with a dynamic approach to maintaining and furthering your professional goals and objectives. It is with pride we provide this service to all of our staff.

Our Education Team provides :

  • An Undergraduate Bachelor of Nursing Program (Undergrad Plus) in affiliation with QUT, Central QLD University, ACU and James Cook University.

  • An Undergraduate Diploma of Nursing program in affiliation with several Brisbane TAFE's.

  • A Graduate Nurse program (Grad Plus) is offered in Peri Operative Services, our Medical and Surgical ward or a combination of both areas and maternity for graduate midwives.

  • A Work Experience Program for nursing and administration.

  • A Volunteer Education Program for all in house volunteers.

  • An EEN up skilling program.

  • For all staff on site regular in service/workshop/course education programs based on requests and needs of staff and the hospital.
