Dr John Bailie is a UK- and Australia-trained urologist with experience in the management of a wide range of urological conditions, including urological cancers, urinary stone disease and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).

He completed his undergraduate medical degree at the University of Dundee, Scotland, in 2007. Dr Bailie undertook higher specialist training at the Freeman Hospital in Newcastle upon Tyne, a tertiary referral urology centre in the United Kingdom. He was awarded his Certificate of Completion of Training in Urology in 2017 and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (UK) and the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.

In early 2018, Dr Bailie moved to Australia to undertake a two-year fellowship at Monash Health in Melbourne. He has been based in Brisbane since 2020 and holds a public appointment as a Staff Specialist Urologist at Redcliffe Hospital. In addition, Dr Bailie maintains a private practice at North West Private Hospital.

Dr Bailie is committed to patient-centred, evidence-based care. He aims to take time to listen to patients, explain treatment options clearly and involve them in decisions about their care. His practice encompasses the full spectrum of urology, including urological cancer, urinary stone disease and benign prostatic enlargement. He has a particular interest in minimally invasive techniques, including laparoscopic surgery for benign and malignant conditions, supine percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) for complex stone disease and holmium laser enucleation of the prostate (HoLEP).

Dr Bailie has a strong commitment to teaching and training. He completed a Master’s degree in Medical education at Newcastle University (UK) in 2016. He holds an appointment as a Lecturer at The University of Queensland and is involved in undergraduate medical education. He also participates in clinical research and has collaborated on clinical trials in both the UK and Australia. Dr Bailie has published in peer-reviewed journals and presented at national and international scientific meetings.
