Dr Phil Lockie is a member of the European Hernia Society with an interest in Laparoscopic Incisional Hernia Repair and Laparoscopic Inguinal Hernia Repair. Dr Phil Lockie has also trained in robotic surgery and these skills are used for complex bariatric and hernia patients. Robotic surgery is excellent for obese hernia patients as well as revisional and complex cases. Robotic cases are discussed on a case-by-case basis.
He has been performing Bariatric procedure for 15 years and he has been working with the same multidisciplinary team, based at Stafford Road, for that length of time. His multidisciplinary team is focussed on “expert care -excellent results” and conduct monthly multidisciplinary team meetings. In addition, Dr Phil Lockie has a bariatric support group managed by Dr Michele Van Vuuren (the practice psychologist), which has been running monthly for 15 years.
The support group allows patients past, present and future the opportunity to meet as well as having invited speakers e.g., Michelle Graham the practice dietitian and START exercise physiologist attend and provide information and tools to manage long term weight management.
Dr Lockie offers a variety of laparoscopic and robotic procedures in the fields of bariatric and hernia surgery, as well as general surgery cases such as laparoscopic cholecystectomy.
Dr Lockie is a GESA registered endoscopist offering gastroscopy and colonoscopy.
He has operating lists at North West Private Hospital and St Andrews War Memorial Hospital.
