Dr Richard Cheng is an Australian trained gastroenterologist and the Director of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Redcliffe Hospital in Brisbane. Dr Cheng graduated from the University of Melbourne and was awarded the Fellowship of the FRACP in 2014. His further studies included a Bachelor of Medical Science through the Austin Hospital Liver Transplant Unit, where he trained in management of chronic liver disease and its complications. Dr Richard Cheng also completed a clinical fellowhip in inflammatory bowel disease at Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital, providing specialist consultation and multidisciplinary care in gastroenterological diseases to patients in both Brisbane and regional Queensland. Dr Cheng advocates for rapid access to high quality gastroenterology and endoscopy care for Queensland patients and sits on the steering committee for the Statewide Clinical Network for Gastroenterology. He is involved in GP education, awareness campaigns and has presented at multiple local and international conferences. He is committed to developing holistic and multidisciplinary gastroenterological care for patients. He enjoys teaching and mentoring junior medical staff in his daily work..
