Dr Ian Shaw

Dr Ian Shaw graduated from the University of Queensland (MBBS) in November 1994. After completing a rural scholarship in Kingaroy, Dr Shaw commenced his surgical career whilst living in Edinburgh, Scotland. Dr Shaw's subsequent training in surgery was based around and completed at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital (RBWH). Dr Shaw updated a textbook chapter on gallstones before receiving his Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS). Dr Shaw then spent nearly two years at Basingstoke in the United Kingdom undergoing further training in advanced laparoscopic upper gastrointestinal surgery and liver resection for metastatic colorectal cancer.

Dr Shaw published a paper on the surgical management of recurrent liver metastases in The British Journal of Surgery and presented at a variety of international meetings. Dr Shaw has been in a Consultant post since December 2005, returning to Nambour General Hospital before commencing at The Prince Charles Hospital in January 2007. Dr Shaw is also active in his role as a Senior Lecturer in Surgery for the University of Queensland.
