Dr Daniel Walker is a General Surgeon with an interest in Benign Upper GI and Bariatric surgery. This includes surgery for:
- Weight loss (Bariatric surgery)
- Gastroesophageal reflux
- Hiatal hernia
- Gallbladder (gallstones, gallbladder polyps, biliary colic)
- Abdominal hernias (ventral, epigastric, umbilical, incisional, inguinal, femoral, Spigelian)
- Skin cancer, including flap reconstruction and skin grafting
- Surgical and interventional endoscopy (gastroscopy, colonoscopy)
Dr Walker completed his medical degree (MBBS) at Griffith University on the Gold Coast in 2008 and subsequently completed his internship and resident medical training at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital. He then undertook the role of surgical assistant to many of Brisbane’s most experienced private Upper GI and bariatric surgeons for the following 2 years.
Dr Walker was accepted onto the RACS training programme for general surgery and spent 5 years working at various QLD public hospitals before obtaining his FRACS in General Surgery in 2018. Dr Walker has undergone sub-specialist training in Upper GI and Bariatric surgery at the RBWH during 2019 (arguably one of the busiest Upper GI and Bariatric units in the country), leading to vast experience in dealing with this complex patient cohort.
Dr Walker has won many awards during his training; proving his ability to ensure excellent outcomes for his patients.
He is a caring and considerate doctor who believes that communication and excellent surgical skill is the key to good patient outcomes. He is also dedicated to spending quality time with his wife and four children, and being active outdoors as much as possible.
