North West Private Hospital specialist Jamie Friebe

Dr Jamie Friebe

MBBS (Monash University), FRANZCOG

Dr Friebe has a strong commitment to the service aspect of obstetrics and gynaecology and strives to ensure his patients receive quality care. A large emphasis is on communication so that patients understand their choices and feel empowered to be involved in the decision-making process with Dr Friebe in both an obstetrics and gynaecology setting. Consultations are conducted in a friendly and relaxed manner to reduce some of the inevitable anxiety that goes with seeing the gynaecologist.

Dr Friebe describes his style as very laid back and consultative and believes every woman has the right to choose how certain aspects of their birth plan are implemented – provided the fundamentals are being following and the management of the labour is safe, he doesn’t mind

“A lot of women just want to have a low intervention, natural childbirth as possible. My job is more to guide people, to ensure the right thing is being done and that things are being done safely, but to give the patient the autonomy to make most of the decisions themselves” says Dr Friebe.

Dr Friebe undertook his specialist training in obstetrics and gynaecology at the Royal Women’s Hospital in Melbourne. Additionally, he completed a fellowship in York in the United Kingdom including the areas of gynaecological oncology and high-risk obstetrics.

Since returning to Australia he practised at first in Warrnambool in Victoria, prior to relocating to Brisbane and commencing his private practice at Suite 5, North West Specialist Centre, located in the grounds of North West Private Hospital. Dr Friebe works in partnership with Life Fertility. Dr Friebe's interests include robotic surgery, operative laparoscopy, prolapse and pelvic floor surgery, colposcopy and vulvoscopy.  He is a skilled obstetrician offering his patients early dating pregnancy ultrasound with both low and high-risk obstetrics management.
