Dr Suvi Hyytinen is a true Queenslander, born in Cairns and growing up amongst the sugarcane fields of Tully prior to moving to Sydney to complete her undergraduate medical degree, MBBS Bsc, from the University of New South Wales (UNSW) in 2002. Suvi spent a further five years undertaking surgical and obstetric and gynaecological residencies at the Prince of Wales Hospital, Sydney Children’s Hospital and the Royal Womens Hospital in Randwick prior to moving back to Queensland to undertake her specialist training.
Suvi obtained her fellowship from the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRANZCOG) in February 2014 after training in various Queensland locations including Nambour, the Royal Hospital for Women, Herston Brisbane, Townsville and Cairns. She worked as a Staff specialist at the Cairns Hospital for 2 years whilst completing a masters degree in reproductive medicine (UNSW), graduating with an award of excellence in July 2016. During that time she had the opportunity to deliver healthcare to various remote indigenous communities in the Cape of York.
Suvi now works in private practice encompassing obstetrics, gynaecology and fertility medicine including IVF and is undertaking further training in robotics. Suvi has practiced as a generalist with a keen interest in Laparoscopic surgery and providing holistic patient focused obstetric care for women and their families. She is a mother of three children and understandably appreciates a good cup of coffee.
Dr Hyytinen does not charge any out of pocket fees for obstetric services.
