Dr Tai Smith is a Queensland trained Ophthalmologist that specialises in eyelid, orbit and lacrimal surgery. His subspeciality fellowship training was completed at the University of British Columbia Eye Care Centre in Vancouver, Canada in 2012. This is a highly sought-after fellowship under the tutelage of Dr Peter Dolman.
He joins North West Private Hospital to complement the Mohs micrographic surgery team, lending his expertise in reconstruction of eyelids after skin cancer removal. He will work in tandem with Dr Dougal Coates, Mohs Surgeon.
Dr Smith has research interests including floppy eyelid syndrome with a patent and publications associated with this project. He is also the CEO of a startup company of his invention “Barista Mist™” – a coffee nasal spray soon to enter the commercialisation stage. He has new research projects with the School of Biomedical Sciences at QUT Kelvin Grove.
